Thank you for sharing this. I think the only way anyone can enter the property market these days is with the help of parents or wealthy acquaintances.
I was introduced to Buddhism years ago, and by watching my thoughts, I've come to realise that they're just thoughts, just words, and usually not needed. This practice has helped me tremendously. For I have come to realise that feelings always follow thoughts, so if I am thinking of nothing, then that is when I am happiest. Good thoughts bring good feelings, and I try to drop any thoughts that bring about uncomfortable feelings. Anyway, thanks for your update, and have a great day.
Thank you for this comment! I love what you said about your feelings being connected to thoughts. I always thought I could trust my thoughts lol but I'm realizing now that it's a lot of chatter and I don't have to believe everything that I think.
And yeah, there's actually not a chance in hell we could've bought a place without our parents chipping in. I feel very lucky and extra aware of my privilege and fired up because it's craaazy that we live in a society where it's practically impossible to own even the most modest home without help!
In my younger days, I got married, bought a house (with a modest mortgage), had kids, and life was good. Yet, I took it for granted and thought everyone lived like I did. The grass was always greener in those days, always thinking about bigger and better. Then the divorce, and I ended up renting for years. I finally got my own home again, and will never take it for granted. Every day, I am thankful for what I now have, and it is precious. Always focus on what you have, and not what you think might be better.
Love your place, and your hair, and your cat, Oh, and your photos.
I liked your book shares and comments on Buddhism. My little voice used to say, “I want to go home.” Now it says, “I love my life.” Still in debt, still single, just more stoked.
Thank you so much! There’s an org that does homeless outreach and advocacy in my neighborhood so I’m going to a meet up next week. Hopefully make some connections there and see what else I can get involved in :)
