Love's Journey's End

Upon the hearth of love and loss

I'll lay my burdens down,

and put aside my discontent,

and leave my tarnished crown.

I'll walk into the quiet room

where, on the wide and billow'd bed,

you lie, devoid of blood and breath,

and kiss your lovely head.

I'll sit beside you in the dark,

until the morning sun,

and close my eyes, and silent be,

and take what dreams may come.
